Illuminate the Path was born of a desire to help guide individuals and couples on their own unique healing journey.
Darryl & Terry Deason have spent the past decade on their own personal healing journey that has led each of them to a deeper understanding of self and their spouse.
We would be honored to walk alongside you whether you are in a dark valley or on a mountaintop, a well-worn or rocky path. The key is to take the next step. One step at a time is the way forward. Your path is important.

Darryl is a certified life coach who began his own personal healing journey in 2012. In 2014 he and his wife, Terry, along with Bobby and Mary Jane Morgan, saw a desperate need for creating an experiential weekend for couples dealing with sexual addiction or a same sex attracted man in the marriage. In 2015, they began hosting Together in Love marriage retreats. To date, they have hosted 13 weekends and offered healing to over 100 couples.
Knowing that he has had a lifelong mission of empowering others, Darryl began informally coaching men in March 2019. In two years’ time, he found himself as an individual life coach of 10 men from across the world and the creator of two coaching groups.
In November 2021, he completed his life coach certification from Life Purpose Institute and joined Terry in her life coach business, Illuminate the Path. Darryl is currently seeing a variety of clients that include:
Men, who struggle in having authentic friendships, feeling comfortable in their masculinity and being fully known.
Couples, who desire an action plan coaching alternative to marriage counseling.
Women married to a SA or SSA man who need a short-term coaching perspective from a male point of view.

Terry is a life coach, scientist, artist who helps others find fulfillment by identifying creative ways to illuminate the path. She finds that women often describe themselves as “stuck” in situations where they are emotionally numb or where change is imminent. It might be change that the woman has chosen, or change that is necessary because of circumstances the woman finds herself in. Whether in this place by choice or chance, her belief is that you can live the life you desire by choosing the next right step.
Terry found herself facing the biggest challenge of her life when her husband of over twenty years disclosed that he had been unfaithful. She found herself in that place of being emotionally numb, trying to find the next right step. Determined to stay in a committed relationship, she and her husband made the decision to seek others who could lead and mentor them. Counselors were available, but she wanted to find someone who was walking a path similar to her own.
Terry sought spouses like herself for years before discovering a safe community of women. While everything may have looked good on the outside, inside she was lonely, lost and hurting. She did find communities of women who are safe, who had faced similar struggles. Now she helps others by being a safe, caring guide in other women’s journeys.
Darryl and Terry have been married for 43 years and have two daughters and five grandchildren, ages 2 to 9. He is a retired dentist of 38 years with a BS degree in chemistry and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Terry recently retired after working in the pharmaceutical industry for over three decades. She is a pharmacist by training and also holds a Masters in Business Administration.
Both Darryl and Terry are certified life coaches and trained as shadow work facilitators. They have been leading couples’ weekends since 2014. We enjoy working with individuals and groups. Terry is also a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Speaker, Trainer.
The Deasons live in Tennessee where they lead local support groups and play with grandchildren.
